Cardiff pupils wheel-ie grateful for new bike shed
Children at a Cardiff primary school were wheel-ie grateful when local housebuilder Lovell presented them with a brand-new bike shed.
Lovell has been working closely with Ysgol Treganna since starting construction of The Mill, an award-winning homes development neighbouring the school in Canton.
“We’ve organised a number of events and activities with Ysgol Treganna and were delighted to help out when the school needed to replace its old bike shed,” says Lovell community coordinator Bernadette Vickery. “We’ve had a brand-new one made so the school now has a safe and weathertight place to keep all its bicycles.”
As part of its community programme, Lovell has previously organised for 90 Ysgol Treganna pupils to visit The Mill, which is one of Wales’ biggest regeneration schemes, as well as organising a fun house-building activity for pupils. Pupils have also been invited to name roads leading to the new housing development.
Homes developer Lovell, Tirion Homes and Cadwyn Housing Association – the partners behind The Mill scheme - aim to create a legacy of benefits for the local area through the homes project which is going ahead with financial backing from the Principality Building Society and the support of the Welsh Government. The Mill, Canton, is bringing 800 contemporary homes to the former Arjo Wiggins paper mill site in West Cardiff. They include 358 homes for open market sale by Lovell and 442 homes for rent – which will be managed by Cadwyn Housing Association – for Tirion Homes.
